Solving Systems of Equations by Combinations
A third way to solve systems of equations is to somehow combine the equations in such a way so one of the variables is eliminated from the equations. This method goes by several different names, including combination, elimination, or adding. Regardless of the name, the process is the same. Once this method was demonstrated, most students felt this method was perhaps the most efficient (or quickest) way to solve a systems problem.
Tonight's Homework: Complete the pink worksheet with 8 problems on it. You will need to each problem 3 ways: by graphing, by substitution, and by combinations (elimination). Each way should give you the same answer.
